எங்கள் கதை · Our Story

Every farm takes from the soil. Mannuyir was built to give back.

The name

மன்னுயிர் (Mannuyir) means all living beings. மன் (Man) is lasting, all; உயிர் (Uyir) is life. Our name comes straight from Thirukural 244, in Valluvar's own spelling.

On this farm, "all living beings" means the cattle, the goats, the hens, the people who visit, and the countless lives in the soil beneath our feet. We chose the Kural's word on purpose: our name is a promise to care for every one of them.

We believe soil is not dirt. It is a living thing, full of roots, worms and tiny life we cannot see. When we care for it, it feeds everything that stands on it.

The Kural we live by

மன்னுயிர் ஓம்பி அருளாள்வாற்கு இல்என்பதன்னுயிர் அஞ்சும் வினை

One who protects all living beings, with compassion, need never fear.

Thirukural 244 · அருளுடைமை (Possession of Compassion)

At Mannuyir we look after every life on the land — the animals, the soil, the people who visit. Valluvar says that one who lives this way has nothing to fear. That is the farm we are building.

What we believe

  1. Nothing on a farm is waste.Every output is the next input.
  2. Healthy soil comes first.Healthy animals and healthy food follow.
  3. Farming should be seen, not hidden. Our gate is open.
  4. Doing it right and earning well are not opposites. We intend to prove it.
